Armand Fritjof Johnson
Armand "Bud" Fritjof
Johnson, 92, died Monday,
Nov. 21, of natural causes
at Fir Lane Health and Re-
tirement in Shelton. He was
a resident of Fir Lane for
more than a year and a pri-
or resident of Maple Glen
Assisted Living for five
years. He was a resident of
Shelton for 21 years.
He was born April 1,
1919, in Fergus Falls,
Minn. to John S. and Ethel
Johnson.
He married Cora Leona
Hiedeman on June 21,
1942, at Wrights Hospital
in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Johnson was a promi-
nent farmer in Wilkin
County, Minn. He worked
at the Navy Shipyards in
San Diego and a variety of
construction-related jobs as
well as a janitor.
He enjoyed playing cards,
having company, camping
and fishing and time with
family, friends and neigh-
bors. He enjoyed woodwork-
ing, ball
~games on
the radio
and horse-
shoes. He
liked
music
and play-
ing har-
monica.
His fam-

story, saying or witty come-
back to share. They said he
had an accepting manner,
gentle nature and a genuine
way that made him an ex-
traordinary father, friend,
brother and neighbor.
He is survived by his

Minn., and Janelle Lovgren
(Ted) of Seattle; sons Den-
nis Johnson (Connie) of
Lakeville, Minn., Lester
Johnson (Sandy) of Shelton,
Dale Johnson of Shelton
and Dan Johnson of Se-
attle; sister Louise Snyder
of Shelton; grandchildren
Scott, Sherry (Frank), Scot,
Bree (Brent), Trisha, Debi,
Phillip, Owen, Annie and
Ryan; great-grandchildren
Jessie, Jezmae, Brandon,
Tyler, Marcus, Devin,
Alexis, Zach, Owen Jr. and
Brayden and great-great
grandchild Kaidyn.
He was preceded in death
by his parents John S. and
Ethel Johnson; wife Cora
Johnson; brother Calmer
Johnson; sister Jackie Hi-
edeman and granddaughter
Shelly Iverson.
A service was held at
Lake Limerick Country
Club on Saturday, Nov. 26.
Another service is planned
for the spring of 2012 in
Fergus Falls, Minn.
Forest Funeral Home
handled the arrangements.
Clifford E. Johnson
Clifford "Gene" E. John-
son, 75, died Friday, Nov.
25, at St. Francis Health-
care Campus, in Breck-
enridge, Minn. He was a

resident of Breckenridge,
Minn., formerly of Union.
He was born Dec. 28,
1935, in Fergus Falls,
Minn., to Melvin and Es-
ther (Gunvaldson) Johnson.
He went to grade school
in Moore-
~ton, N.D.,
and at-
tended
Wahpe-
ton High
School.
In June
1956, he
married
Diana
Clifford Strubel.
Johnson He
farmed
with his
brother Gordon in Great
Bend, N.D., and operated
the Great Bend Lockers
with Diana and her par-
ents, Robert and Luella
Strubel:
In the winters, he started
teaching classes at the
North Dakota School of Sci-
ence in Wahpeton. Eventu-
ally he taught full-time and
was an instructor in the
welding, machine tool and
diesel departments.
In 1989, they moved to
Union to help Johnson's
brother with his excavation
business and later was em-
ployed with the Hood Canal
Telephone Company.
He was considered a
"jack of all trades." He was
a mechanic, welder, body
man, carpenter, butcher
and farmer. His family said
• that there was never a task
he wouldn't tackle no mat-
ter how difficult or compli-
cated. He also enjoyed Har-
ley-Davidson motorcycles
and Ford pickup trucks.
He is survived by his son,
Chris Johnson (Suzanne) of
Great Bend, N.D; daughter
Elizabeth Borgert (Jerome)
of Arcadia, Okla.; grandchil-
dren Kaytlyn, Courtney and
Sydney Johnson, Stephanie
Baird (Taylor), Kirsten
Stover (Jordan) and Anna
Borgert; brothers Gordon
Johnson (Muriel) of Moore-
ton, N.D. and Richard John-
son (Joycelyn) of Union and
his sister, Joyce Devries of
Wahpeton, N.D.
His wife Diana, his par-
ents Melvin and Esther
Johnson, in-laws Robert
and Luella Strubel and an
infant sister Mary preceded
him in death.
Funeral services were
held on Wednesday, Nov.
30, at Evergreen United
Methodist Church, Wahpe-
ton, Vertin-Munson Funeral
Home in Wahpeton, N.D, is
handling the arrangements.
