Hoodsport library to host holiday music
Hoodsport Timberland Library will host
holiday music to celebrate the Christmas
season. Friends of the Library will wel-

Hageman to perform carols and contem-
porary Christmas music at I p.m. on Sat-
urday, December 15. She plays a French-
made, full-size pedal harp. Hageman has
played the harp since she was 11 and
performed with the Capital Area Youth
Symphony during high school. Now the
mother of three preschoolers, she still
manages to find the time to teach harp
and play for weddings and parties. There
will be complimentary Christmas treats
and hot cider for guests. Friends of the
Library present this music program as a
free holiday gift to the community.
Board funds drawing
visitors to county
The Mason County Commis-
sion has authorized $181.,063.84
in grants from the Lodging Tax
Fund as recommended by the
Lodging Tax Advisory Commit-
tee.
More than half of the money,
$94,922.84, goes to the the Joint
Tourism Advisory Council, a
group that will use the money for
marketing.
Other big-ticket grants have
to do with the operation of visitor
information centers in three loca-
tions. The North Mason Chamber
of Commerce will get $17,000 to
operate a center in the Belfair
area. The Shelton-Mason County
Chamber of Commerce will get
$30,000 to operate the center sit-
uated in the caboose on Railroad
Avenue and the visitor infi)rma-
tion center in Hoodsport. Also ap-
proved was spending $12,000 to
rent the building in Hoodsport.
In action taken on November
27, the county commission autho-
rized grants: for an advertisement
in The Washington State Visi-
tor Guide 2008 in the amount of
$5,741; in the amount of $10,000
for the 2008 Mason County Fair
and NPRA Dodge Rodeo; to the
Allyn Community Association in
the amount of $4,500 for Allyn
Days; to the Kristmastown Ki-
wanis in the amount of $3,500 for
Bluegrass from the Forest; and to
the North :Mason Rotary Club in
the amount of $2,000 for a one-
day event or $3,500 for a two-day
event for its 2008 Taste of Hood
Canal.

Hadsalls celebrate 60th
Vern Hadsall of Colfax, Iowa, married Agnes Johnson
on December 5, 1947 in her hometown of Seattle. They
lived in West Seattle for 45 years and moved to Lake
Limerick in 1982 after retiring in 1981. They have two
children: Bill Hadsall of Lake Limerick and Laurie
Sifford of Tacoma. They also have four grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren. The couple belongs
to the First Baptist Church of Shelton, the Shelton
Moose Lodge, Lake Limerick Golf Course and a retir-
ees' group.
Iistorical museum lists its open hours
The Mason County Historical Fridays and f?om noon to 4 p.m.
Ociety's museum is open from Saturdays at Fifth and Railroad
Oon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through in downtown Shelton.

Group studies
immigration
The League of Women Voters
of Mason County is sponsoring a
series of study groups. The third
session will run from 1 to 3 p.m on
Friday, December 14, at the Wil-
liam G. Reed Library, 710 West
Alder Street in Shelton.
The topic for the next study
group is immigration. The public
is invited to attend and participate
in the discussion.

Advisory committee
meets at Shelton port
The Sanderson Field Advisory
Committee will meet from 4 to 6
p.m. on Wednesday, December 12,
in the commission chambers at
the Port of Shelton Administra-
tion Building, 21 West Sanderson
Way.
A press release issued by the
port gave an incorrect date for the
meeting and that information ap-
peared in last week's issue of The
Journal.
The advisory committee will re-
view the draft Inventory and Fore-
casts chapters for the update to
the Sanderson Field Airport Mas-
ter Plan. The meeting is open to
the public and interested citizens
are encouraged to attend.
