The Mary M. Knight boys' baket-
ball team suffered a disappointing
end to an evenly matched game this
week.
On Monday, the Knight Owls lost
56-55 in overtime to Ocosta.
"We had eight seconds to go, we
set the play up and missed the shot,"
head coach Tim Diggle said.
The Knight Owls struggled in the
first half against Ocosta, which got
out to an early lead.
"We gained a lead in the sec-
ond half, but ended up tied at 60,"
Diggle said. "It was pretty evenly
matched."
Nick Dierkop led the Owls with 15
points and 11 rebounds, while Blake
Adsero scored 13 points and snagged
12 rebounds.
"This was the strongest night I've
seen out of Blake,"
Diggle said.

vs. South Bend, "We played
7:30 p.m. strong for three
quarters," Diggle
said. "Overall, we
played well for the first game."
He said the team is in football
shape, since the football season did
not end until one week into basket-
ball season.
"Our legs were tired in the fourth,"
Diggle said. "We were running out of
gas. The boys were getting tired and
their legs were cramping."
Dierkop led the Owls with 16
points and five steals, while O'Neil
grabbed 11 rebounds. Kyle Willey,
O'Neil and Cody Thompson had three
assists each.
Diggle said he is pleased with the
effort the Knight Owls (1-1) have put
forth so far.
"We haven't had a chance to get
into basketball shape because of
football," he said. "I've got a couple of
kids out with football injuries. Aus-
tin Thompson is coming back this
week, though."
So far, Diggle said the team is
playing fine.
"We're playing the tempo we
thought we'd play, we're just running
out of gas," he said. "It's a good group
of boys."
The Knight Owls are set to play at
7:30 p.m. tomorrow at home against
South Bend and at 7:30 p.m. Satur-
day at home against Seton.
