Austin Schirato likes be-

"When my morn was

heard the name Mookie in
a Spike Lee film and she
didn't know what she was
going to name me, so she
started calling me Mookie,"
Schirato explained. "Her
and my dad both called me
that and it stuck. There are
a lot of Austins, but only one

sen said.
"Mookie has done a lot
of things through the fall
to help us get better," Jen-
sen said. "He brganized the
kids into a league to play in
Tumwater. He's taken on a
real leadership role, which I
thought was admirable."
Schirato said he orga-
nized the team during the
fall because Jensen, due to
coaching regulations, wasn't
allowed to be involved.
"I took it upon myself to
organize practices during
the fall," he continued. "I be-
lieve they were successful.
We made some pretty great
strides, especially with some
of the younger players."
Schirato has been play-
ing basketball for the last
six years, beginning in rec-
reation leagues with Jensen
as his coach.
"I love the game," he said.
"There's nothing like it."
Though he loves basket-
ball, he's actually played
soccer longer. Schirato be-
gan playing soccer 13 years
ago, also through recreation
leagues.
"I like the physicality of
soccer, as well as the car-
dio involved," he said. "You
really have to train and be
prepared. With soccer, you
can't get by with just ath-
leticism, you really have to
