DL's CORNER
This is the wonderous joyous
season when everyone smiles at
one another, secretly hoping that
the other fellow will not send him
a present like last year's
what-cha-ma-call-it that the store
wouldn't take back because not
even they wanted it...
In the meantime, don't forget
to take your kids down to Santa
Claus at his offical Shelton
address, Thurston County Federal
Savings & Loan Association
office. He'll be there 7 to 8:30
p.m. on Fridays and 1 to 4 p.m.
on Saturdays ...
Either after or going to see
Santa, take a gander at all the
wonderous goodies Shelton stores
have for all the family. Just to
give a slight impression of what
stores are featuring specials this
week, here's a smattering of
them...

Students of the Shelton High
School business classes toured
Simpson Timber Company's
Shelton office this week. John

Party
The Multi-Service Center is
signing up children for the annual
Christmas Party at the Center.
The party will be Dec. 23 from 7
to 9 p.m. for children ages 5 to
12.
There will be a gift for each
child and refreshments.
The Center needs parents to
bring refreshments to the party
and help serve. Anyone interested
can contact the Center, 233 S.
2nd or phone 426-2568 or
426-2571.
November is always a very
frustrating month for Center
employees as so many people
come in from a distance to work
in the Christmas trees and find no
place to stay.

Processing in gathering,
transmitting and receiving
information for the Simpson
business systems. A diagrammed
flow chart of a typical Simpson
payroll procedure was given each
student and the machines used in
compiling this information were
demonstrated.
The final tour stop was
conducted by Glen Hufnail,
accountant. He gave a summary
of the many business activities
and explained how secretaries,
machine operators and
accountants worked together to
process Simpson's requirements.
Nearly 70 students visited the
Shelton office and had the
opportunity to learn business
terms such as: Invoicing,
manufacturing control systems,
sales analysis, accounts payable,
inventory control and office
copiers... The tour was held in
two sections with each class
spending one class period at
Simpson's office.
A better understanding of the
future careers in business was the
reasoning behind this program,
said Replinger.
