Obituaries
Randall S. Waylett
Randall S. Waylett, of Shelton passed away
loved ones.
Randall was born in Bellingham, WA, to Stan-
ley and Minerva Waylett on December 17, 1944.
He graduated from Meridian High School in Bell-
ingham, but attended Shelton schools until his
senior year. He married Teena Uhl on June 1,
1968, in Albuquerque, NM. He worked for Simp-
son Timber Company for 39 years holding vari-
ous positions. He served in the US Air Force from
1964-1968. He was a member of Shelton Four-
square Church, where he served in many posi-
tions.
Randall is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ardella
Keith.
Randall is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teena Waylett of Shel-
ton, three children Amos (Alyson) Waylett of Union. Randi (Dan) Har-
wood of Everett, Ben (Kari) Waylett of Shelton. Eight grandchildren:
Chris, Carrington, Clairee Waylett of Union, Madison, Kole, Parker
Harwood of Everett, Easton, Kena Waylett of Shelton. And, we can’t
forget about his sweet little Katie, his beloved dog... I
For Randy, God was number 1 and family was number 2. He
brought a lot of laughter to the people around him and always had a
joke in his back pocket to dish out. In his last weeks of life he made
sure his family knew how much he loved them and that he was very
proud of the people they have become.
His celebration of life will be held at a later date. His remains will
interred at Tahoma National Cemetery. “We’ll see you here, there or
En the air. Gone but never forgotten.”
Phylis K. Griggs
Phylis Kathleen Griggs, 80, of McCleary, died November 21, 2020.
She was born in Shelton to Arthur and Lillian (Fentiman) Griggs.
Phylis graduated from Irene S. Reed High School class of 1958 and
soon after moved to Los Angeles. She loved movies and was excited
to live near the celebrities she admired. She worked as a personal as-
sistant to the actress Joan Staley and was thrilled to hobnob with the
stars of the day. She married Peter Reese in 1968 and moved to the
California Bay Area where she settled into the travel agent industry
in which she remained active until retiring in 2017. After divorce, she
moved back to the NW in 1978. She married the love of her life, David
Mohler, in 1981, and lived blissfully until his death in 2014. Phylis
was an avid dog lover and enjoyed their companionship throughout
her life. She will now know if her assertion of “all dogs go to heaven”
is indeed true!
She was preceded in death by her husband David, brother Charles
Griggs and sister Mae Morgan. Her sister Jean Hall, sisters in law
Joan Sharpes, Mary Mohler, and Ruth Mohler and numerous nieces
and nephews survive her. Special recognition and thanks go to Mary
Mohler who graciously donated a kidney to Phylis, Joan Sharpes,
dedicated helpmate, nephew Mark Hall and Jeni Williams, caregiver.
No services are planned at this time due to Covid concerns. Please
kdirect donations in Phylis’s name to the ASPCA.

Patricia June Smith
1935—2020
Patricia June (Hunter) Smith peacefully
, passed away at St. Peter Hospital Olympia, WA,
' on October 22, 2020, at the age of 85. Pat was
born to Willard Lee and Gertrude (Gilbert) Hunt-
er in Shelton, WA. She graduated from Irene S.
Reed High School in 1953 and attended business
school in Olympia, WA. She married Kenneth
E. Smith in November of 1954. They made their
home in Shelton where Pat worked as a teller
at Seattle First National Bank before moving
their family to Morton, WA, in the mid 1960’s.
She worked for Gene Peters Logging throughout
the 1970’s where she was fondly referred to as
“Bookie.” During the 1980’s, she worked as the
bookkeeper for the Morton Moose Lodge. She attempted to retire in
the 1990’s, but was asked to share her talent for baking at Cody Café
in Morton where her pies and cinnamon rolls drew travelers from all
over the Pacific Northwest.
After her husband’s death in 1996, Pat moved with her eldest daugh—
ter to Napavine, WA, where she found herself returning to her office
skills with Lewis County Community Development and Lewis County
Solid Waste before officially retiring in 2018. She enjoyed spending
her free time with family and traveling to destinations throughout
the US, including many trips to her beloved Hawaiian Islands.
Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Ken, her
son Matthew, her grandson Ryan, her brother George L. Hunter, and
her sister Karlee J. (Hunter) Kennedy. She is survived by her four
children and their spouses; Lauren Bridges (Rocky), Lynn Axt (Ron),
Tod Smith (Ann),and Leanne Semanko (Randy); 11 grandchildren, 11
great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, her sister-in-law
Lois Hunter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date when it is
deemed safe to gather. In her honor, the family requests donations tj
her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

1919-2020
~ ' ‘r Hazel B. Bartley, 101, of Hoodsport , Washing-
" ton, went to be with the Lord on November 16,
2020.
Hazel was born January 25, 1919 in Walla
Walla Washington. She graduated from Richland
High’ School, WA in 1937.
1: Hazel was a lifelong Washingtonian who loved
‘ the Lord, and dedicated her life to serving others.
' Hazel lived at her lovely home in Lake Cush-
man for close to 50 years. She volunteered at the
local food bank for over 20 years, as well as the
Hoodsport Visitor Information Center.
She is survived by grandsons, David Clark
(Anne Clark) and Jeff Clark, Patrick Hall, John
Hall, and Steven Hall (Paula Hall); and granddaughter, Gina Rine-
hart (Gary Rinehart), Nancy Hall (daughter-in-law), as well as mul-
tiple cousins, great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.
Hazel was preceded in death .by her first husband, Floyd Hall, and
second husband, Edwin Bartley. She also was preceded in death by
daughter, Kathy Clark (Jerry Clark), and by her son, Floyd “Bub”
Hall.
Hazel was a beloved member of the Hoodsport Community and was
gracious and loving to all. She enjoyed quilting, Bible studies, inter-
national travel, family, friends, and the beauty of Lake Cushman.
She was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
