A parking meter mounted on the counter near the dispatcher's desk has been removed. Parking tickets will now cost $1 if paid within 24 hours after beingissued. The city commission this week approved removal of the 25-cent meter from the police department after being told by Police Chief Frank Rains and City Attorney B. Franklin Heuston there was nothing in the city ordinance which would prevent the action. The previous policy had been that if a driver who got a ticket came to the police station within an hour after the ticket was issged and put a quarter in the meter there, that would take care of the ticket.
