Accreditation of Hospitals has
again approved Mason General
Hospital to be fully accredited for
a period of two years. This was
the result of much preparation
and work conducted over many
months by the medical staff and
nea;ly all hospital employees. The

Democrats send
letter to Julia
The Mason County Democrat
Central Committee recently sent a
letter to Representative Julia
Butler Hansen concerning tile
House of Representatives hearing
on President Richard Nixon
The letter was signed by
Robert Whitmarsh, chairman of
the central committee, and said:
"This Democrat Central
Committee is on record to urge
you to endorse the proceedings of
the House Committee that are
looking into Nixon politics and if
the findings show that he is guilty
of an illegal act, to vote for his
impeachment."

those wishing a snack with their
coffee break.
Members of the Ladies Club
decorated three rooms and
trimmed three trees before the
first of three banquets last week
at the clubhouse. We are grateful
to Kenny Frank of the Cranberry
Lake Christmas Tree Farm for his
donation of Noble Fir branches
used in the decorations.
The big event of this week is
the Children's Annual Christmas
Party from 2 to 4 p.m. at tile
clubhouse Saturday. Parents are
asked to bring a present for their
child with name attached and
leave them at the clubhouse by
noon. Santa Claus will be there to
hand out the presents and a
stocking for each child. There will
be light refreshments for the
adults.
More members are showing an
interest in pinochle. Last
Wednesday there were three
tables playing. Ralph Bennett and
Dallas Wells had double pinochle
three times in one game. Thal's
almost a record. Next Pinochle
Night will be December 26 at 7
p.m. at the Pro Shop.
Joint Commission's field staff
conducted an extensive survey of
Mason General Hospital and their
reports were reviewed by a special
team in the Joint Commission's
office in Chicago.
Representatives of four
national medical and hospital
organizations comprise the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of
Hospitals; the American College
of Physicians, the American
College of Surgeons, the
American Medical Association,
and the American Hospital
Association.
The Certificate of
Accreditation given to Mason
General Hospital is granted only
to those hospitals that meet
exacting standards developed by
the Joint Commission. The
standards under which the
hospital was surveyed this time
have been expanded from those
followed in the past The award is
evidence that medical and
hospital people are continuously
providing services to patients in a
facility that is well-run,
well-organized, well-equipped and
well-staffed, according to Laurel
Nelson, Administrator of the
party
I.W.A. Local 3-38 annual
Children's Christmas Party will be
held December 16 at 2 p.m. at the
I.W.A. Union Hall, Second and
Grove Street, Shelton.
Members and families and
retired members are welcome.

There are 70 specific
standards of performance
required by the accreditating
organization, as well as several
hundred other items .'that must be
checked or provided in order to
qualify for an on-the-site visit by
the survey team. All 19 clinical
and service departments at Mason
General Hospital were involved.
The governing body of Public
Hospital District No. 1 of Mason
County (Hospital Commisskmers
of Mason General Hospital) have
supported and encouraged the
work that is necessary to continue
with full accreditation. The
accreditation program is entirely
voluntary on the part of the
hospital; however, it is felt that an
