Forest land values for the
assessment year have been
Jted following a public
November 21.
on review of more than
nonpublic sales by
bartment foresters, the
schedule will be used by
assessors in setting 1974
tax values for
timber land coming under
ion Act.
P0r western Washington
lands of average quality,
average accessibility and
group
topography, values will be at $59
per acre, 25.5 per cent above the
1973 level of $47. The eastern
Washington lands in this category
will be valued at $16, up from
$12 an acre.
A value of $114 an acre has
been established for the best
quality land in western
Washington, and $31 in eastern
Washington. The same land was
valued at $91 and $24 this year.
Approximately nine million
acres of private forest land are
affected by the new schedule.

Solza~enitsyn is set in a research

value survival of truth, justice,
mercy and freedom over personal
survival.
In Day of the Jackal by
Frederick Forsyth the reader of
this tautly written and intricately
plotted thriller is almost
persuaded he is following the
reconstruction of an actual event,
an assassination attempt on
Charles de Gaulle. Part of the
secret is that real people move in
and out of the plot.
Deliverance by James Dickey
is a heart-stopping tour de force,
an overpowering, unforgettable
tale of violent adventure and
inner discover),. The setting is a
three-day canoe trip down a
particularly wild section of a river
in the heartland of today's South.
The narrator, forced to assume
the leadership of his group and to
pursue a dangerous multiple
deception, must call upon all his
resources to try to achieve
deliverance.
Oklahoma Crude by Marc
Norman is set in the Oklahoma oil
fields shortly before the outbreak
of World War 1. It is the story of
Lena Doyle and her desperate
fight to bring in her oil wells
against overwhelming odds.
