HARSTINE - If a gal here on
the island happens to belong to all
three island organizations (and
only a gel can find herself in this
situation since one of the three is
a Women's Club), then this week
when all three Christmas parties
take place just has to be about the
busiest week of the entire year.
For in addition to the three
parties, the date for getting the
community hall all dressed up in
its Christmas finery occurs just
two days prior to the first of the
parties.
By the time this column is
being read around the county, all
the decorating has been
completed on Tuesday of this
week° (And the gels sometimes
feel that can be just as much fun
as the parties themselves.) And
the first of the parties is probably
in full swing.
Thursday, the gels will kick

be there along with their six elves
and some of the reindeer (the
dingle bells) and last but certainly
not least, our country cousins, the
hillbillies.
Don't forget, folks, there's a
dollar per present gift exchange at
all three parties. The evening
dinners commence at 6 p.m. and
you are requested to bring two
dishes to the potluck dinner, a
hot dish with a salad or dessert.
And if there weren't enough
activities this week, the other
member of the Shoreline
Management Advisory Board and
myself scheduled the final public
meeting for Tuesday of this week!
This past weekend two gals,

stay was a visit with a very sweet
nurse, Jewel (Pinard) Doering
who, along with her family, were
one-time Point Wilson residents.
Following her release from
the hospital, she spent about
another two weeks recuperating
at the home of her daughter,
Helen Franich of Tacoma. A big
welcome home, Celia.
However, we are sorry to
report another islander, Arlo
Wingert, had to return to the
Shelton Hospital earlier last week.
However, Lena Walton of Tacoma
is presently staying at the Wingert
home to keep her sister, Katheryn
Wingert, company while Arlo is
recuperating in the hospital.
Pat and John Dunlap were
among the many guests at the
home of Lr. and Mrs. Jim
Fitzgerald of Olympia last week
on Tuesday evening. Honored
guest was Don Chim, conductor
of the Evergreen College music
department. After dinner all
attended the beautiful Christmas
concert, one of a series being held
at the Evergreen College, for free!
