Jerry Pyle
Longtime Shelton resident Ger-
ald Truman "Jerry" Pyle, 73, died
of liver-related causes on Sunday,
December 9, in Shelton. He had
lived in Shelton
41 years.
He developed
a machine for
his first wife,
who had multi-
ple sclerosis, be-
coming founder
and president of
PDLX, Incorpo-
rated. He sold
more than 300
machines that
were helpful to
MS patients.
He was born
on April 21, 1934 Jerry
in Carroll, Iowa, Pyle
to Harley and
Lula (Snethen) Pyle.
He served in the Army from
1953 to 1955 and was a Specialist
3 at the time of his discharge.
He married Barbara (Bailey)
Pyle on July 12, 1997 at Hartstene
Pointe. Previously, he married
Anna Marie (Eidenshink) Pyle on
June 18, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa.
She preceded him in death in Oc-
tober 1996.
Mr. Pyle was an engineering
estimator for Certified Manufac-
turing in Shelton for 30 years and
at Olympic Tool for a number of
years.
He enjoyed inventing, tinkering,
Care Ministry at Faith Lutheran
Church, and being with his family
and friends. He was a history buff
and enjoyed "How It's Made" pro-
grams on TV.
He was also a member of The
Gideons and Good Sam Travel
Club and a former Fire District 11
commissioner representing Cher-
ry Park.
Surviving are wife Barbara Pyle
of Shelton; son Brad Pyle and wife
Susanne of Independence, Kansas;
daughters Julie Dale and husband
Rick of Scottsdale, Arizona, and
Gerrilynn Lindley and husband
Todd of Montesano; stepdaughter
Kristine Harkness and husband
David of Tacoma; stepson Erik So-
renson and wife Mercedes of Mi-
ami, Florida; nine grandchildren,
five great-grandchilren, three
step-grandchildren and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death
by son Chris Pyle in April 1983.
A funeral service will be held at
2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15,
at Faith Lutheran Church, 1212
Connection Street in Shelton. Pas-
tor Steve Olson will officiate. A
family service will be held later at
Shelton Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be

Michael A. Glenn
Michael Allyn Glenn was killed
in a mudslide accident on Monday,
December 3, in Hoodsport. He was
22 and a Shelton resident.
He was born on April 5, 1985 in
Shelton to Charles R Chamblin
and Carol Aitken Glenn.
He worked in construction in
the Shelton and Hoodsport areas
for six years.
Mr. Glenn had been a Boy
Scout. He enjoyed fishing, hunt-
ing, picking mushrooms, camping,
the outdoors, cars, dirt bikes and
his friends.
Surviving are grandparents
Robert Aitken and Dixie Cuzick,
brother Nathan Glenn and sister
Elizabeth Aitken, all of Shelton
and numerous nieces,, nephews,
aunts, uncles and cousins.
His mother died in 1995.
A memorial service was held on
Tuesday, December 11, at Hood
Canal Community Church in
Hoodsport. Pastor Jack Keith offi-
ciated. Inurnment was at Shelton
Memorial Park.

Shelton resident Lloyd L.
Murr died on November 27 at his
home. He was 82.
He was born on June 30, 1925
in Purdy, Mis-
souri.
He served in
the Navy from
June 1943 un-
til March 1946
and was a fire-
man first class.
He received the
Asiatic Pacific
Area Campaign
Medal, Ameri-
can Area Cam-
paign Medal,
Philippine Lib- Lloyd L.
eration Medal Murr
and World War
II Victory Medal.
Mr. Murr was chief of police in
Dayton in Eastern Washington.
After moving to Shelton, he and
his wife owned C&L Time service
station and Arctic Circle restau-
rants in Shelton and Centralia.
He was a disabled veteran
and belonged to the Veterans of
Foreign Wars and the 40 et 8 in
Shelton. He was a charter mem-
ber of the Shelton Elks Lodge
since 1971 and served two terms
as an officer.
Surviving are his wife of 44
years, Charline "Char" Murr;
children Bruce Murr and wife
Kathy ofWalla Walla, Mike Murr
and wife Eva of Rye, New York,
Cindy Byrd and Debbie Bern-
hardt of Vancouver, Sandy Ator
and husband Rod of Shelton, Ste-

Murr of Yakima; brother Clyde
Murr of Jacksonville, Florida;
cousin Faye of The Dalles, Or-
egon; 14 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
His son, Clyde Murr, preced-
ed him in death in Vietnam in
1966.
A graveside service was held on
Friday, December 7, at Shelton
Memorial Park. Those who knew
him are invited to a celebration
of his life at 1 p.m. on Saturday,
January 12, at the Shelton Elks
Lodge.
William Francis
Former Shelton resident Wil-
liam R. Francis died of natural
causes on Saturday, December
8, at Capital Medical Center in
Olympia. He was 81 and had lived
in Olympia for the past 35 years.
He was born in Seattle on Jan-
uary 3, 1926 to John and Eliza-
beth (Crump) Francis. He grew
up in Carbonado and graduated
from high school at age 16 in 1942
in Bellingham.
Mr. Francis served in the Army
from March 21, 1946 to Septem-
ber 23, 1947.
He did undergraduate studies
at the University of Washington
from 1947 to 1951, then received
a master's degree from Yale Uni-
versity.
He married Verna June Deans
on September 22, 1951 in Vancou-
ver, British Columbia, Canada.
He worked for Simpson Timber
Company, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed gardening, grow-
ing vegetables and planting trees
and mowing his lawn with a push
mower. He and his wife loved tak-
ing day trips. One favorite trip
was to Fort Clatsop, Oregon. An
outdoors person, he enjoyed all
animals, hiking and looking at
wild flowers. He was an avid read-
er, especially of history books. He
named his two dogs Lewis and
Clark.
Surviving are wife June Fran-
cis of Olympia; daughters Patti
Wetzel and husband John of Ta-
coma and Liz Farrar of Elma;
grandchildren Tyson and Taryn
Farrar of Elma and Sophie and
Anna Wetzel of Tacoma; and
brother Jack Francis of Belling-
ham.
His sister Joyce preceded him
in death.

Clyde A. Robb
Retired Shelton industrial arts
teacher Clyde A. Robb died from a
stroke on Saturday, December 8,
at Saint Peter Hospital in Olym-
pia. He was 78.
He was born
in 1929 in
Wadena, Minne-
sota, to William
Henry and Ella
Kautz Robb, the
fifth of six chil-
dren.
After grad-
uating from
Wadena High
School in 1947,
he joined the Air
Force. He served Clyde A.
in the Pacific as Robb
an airplane en-
gine mechanic
and worked on P-51s, then jets. He
achieved the rank of sergeant.
He completed his tour of duty
in 1950 and attended Bemidji
State Teachers College in Minne-
sota, earning a bachelor of science
degree in 1953.
He married Donna Jeanne
Fletcher in Bemidji. They lived in
Minnesota until 1955, when Mr.
Robb took a teaching position in
Maple Valley. In 1958, he took
a position as an industrial arts
teacher at Shelton High School
and Shelton Junior High. He
taught there until he retired in
1982.
After retirement, he became a
full-time builder, first with some
other retired teachers, then on his
own. Robb's Construction became
a family business with customers
who were counted as friends all
over Mason County. The Robbs
also made friends through their
Amway business.
When his children were young-
er, he was an active leader of the
Boy Scouts, 4-H and a church
youth group. He volunteered at
school sporting events and as a
coach and referee. His favorite
pastime was watching basketball,
football and other team sports on
TV. He was an active member of
Faith Lutheran Church, served on
the council and numerous church
committees as well as volunteer-
ing for Habitat for Humanity and
belonging to the Kristmastown
Kiwanis.
Surviving are son Ross Robb
and wife Linda of Olympia; daugh-
ters Pam Boad and husband Steve
and Karen Robb Peterson and
partner Sal Chavez, all of Shelton;
brothers Tom Robb of Isle, Minne-
sota, and Roger Robb of New York
Mills, Minnesota; sisters Marion
Horstman of Port Angeles and
Marjorie Robb and Lou Legreid
of New York Mills; five grandchil-
dren, seven great-grandchildren
and his adopted family, former
Shelton residents Jorge and Nan-

Mike.
His wife preceded him in death

He was preceded in death by
great-grandmother Lauretta
Tank in 2001 and grandfather
David Stevens in 2003.

at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December
15, at the Shelton Moose Lodge,
741 SE Craig Road. John Cook
will officiate. Inurnment will be
at the Miller Cemetery at a later
date.

Joseph D. Boyles died of a re-
spiratory ailment on Monday, De-
cember 3, at Shelton Health and
Rehabilitation Center. He was 85
and had lived
in Union for 27
years.
He was born
on January 15,
1922 in Toledo
to Joseph M. and
Mable D. (Smith)
Boyles.
He was a self-
employed inde-
pendent contrac-
tor most of his
life. Joseph D.

included watch-
ing his favorite sports and, as a
self-taught licensed broker, he en-
joyed following the stock market
and teaching his friends his wis-
dom.
Surviving are his sisters, Ruth
Petrasso, Grace Homer and hus-
band Dr. Howard Homer and
Pat Chewing, all of the Portland,
Oregon, area; and his friends in
Union.
At Mr. Boyles' request, no ser-
vices will be held. Memorial dona-
tions may be made to Fire District
6 in Union.
