liam Landis.
A memorial service was held
on Saturday, December 8, at Hope
Chapel in Shelton. Pastor Doug
Hepting officiated. Inurnment was
at Shelton Memorial Park.

Fred Christian
Forrest Fredrick "Fred" Chris-
tian, who has relatives in Shelton,
died of mesothelioma at his home
in Port Angeles on November 28.
He was 72.
He was born on March 9, 1935
in Olympia to Forrest Lenord Le-
roy and Geneva Agnes (Snyder)
Christian.
He served as a private first class
in the Army in Germany from 1954
to 1957.
He married Orma M. "Buzz"
Gaul in Port Angeles on January
25, 1958.
Mr. Christian was a pipefitter
who was promoted to maintenance
supervisor at the ITT Rayonier mill
in Port Angeles.
He enjoyed antique and classic
cars and raced Mustangs and drag-
sters for many years. He wintered
in Arizona, where he did off-roading
in the desert, hiked in the moun-
tains and prospected for gold.
He was a member of the Free
and Accepted Masons 69 of Port
Angeles, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 4760 in Sequim, Pleasant
Mountain Grange and Southwest
Gold Prospectors Club of Arizona.
He was also a volunteer firefighter
for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, son Fred-
erick Alan Christian and daughter
Jamie Linn Barth, all of Port Ange-
les; sisters Barbara Settle of Port
Angeles, Sherry Roberts of Oregon,
Maryann Hathaway of Shelton,
Elaine Phillips and husband Bob
of Shelton, Geraldine Besonson
and husband Rich of Tacoma and
Charlotte Massman and husband
John of Oregon; and three grand-
children.
He was preceded in death by
brother Barry Christian and sister
Robin Sadler.
Military burial at sea will be
conducted by the Navy. Crema-
tion was by the Neptune Society of
Kent.
Memorial donations may be
made to Volunteer Hospice of Clal-
lain County, P.O. Box 2014, Port
Angeles, 98362.
