Joan Minor
Florence "Joan" Minor, 72,
a resident of Union, died on
Dec. 3, 2012, in Shelton.
She was bern Feb. 27,
1940, to Florence and Joseph
Baird in Richmond, Va.
She grew up in Daly City,
Calif., where she attended Jef-
ferson High School and San
Francisco State College.
Joan married Donald Mi-
nor on Nov. 1, 1961, in The
Church of Jesus Christ of Lat-
ter-day Saints temple in Salt
Lake City. They were married
for 51 years.
Joan lived in San Jose, Ba-
kersfield and Pleasanton, Ca-

family said. She spent numer-
ous hours in service to those
around her and in her various
church activities.
She loved learning about
U.S. history and visiting the
historical locations. Christmas
was a special time for Joan,
who went over the top with
home decorations and that
kooky yule log video she liked
to play numerous times over
the holiday season.
She is survived by husband
Don Minor of Union; mother
Florence Baird, 95, of Union;
brother William Baird of San
Francisco; children Sheri, Da-
vid, Gary, Julie, Melissa and
Jamie; and 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by her father, Joseph Baird,
and brother Keith Baird.
A funeral service will be at
10 a.m. on Saturday at The
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, 1200 Con-
nection St. in Shelton.
Memorial donations can be

Donzetta Moran
Donzetta Moran, 84, died
on Nov. 23, 2012, at Fir Lane
Health & Rehabilitation.
She was bern Dec. 8, 1928,
and was a fi_~h-generation
descendent of pioneer Enoch
Willey.
She got her first job at 14
in the shake ship by the old
Shelton Hotel. After gradua-
tion from Irene S. Reed High
School in 1946, she attended
school in Olympia as a key
punch operator.
She worked first for the
state and then for Simpson
Timber Co. until her retire-
ment.
On Feb. 17, 1948, she mar-
ried Calvin J. Moran, who
preceded her in death in 1966.
They had four children:
Candie Moran, Dunee Dowty,
Calvin Moran and Terry
Campbell.
Her family said that
Donzetta could do almost any-
thing, adding that her house
was always clean. She was
an avid seamstress, but also
enjoyed knitting, sewing, cro-
cheting, ceramics, gardening,
woodworking, camping, fish-
ing and traveling to Europe.
She had seven grandchil-
dren and 15 great-grandchil-
dren. She is survived by her
sister Ann Anderson.
Her sister Lola Tough pre-
ceded her in death in spring
2012.
Norma Jean Oleson
Norma Jean Oleson, 84,
died at 11 p.m. on Dec. 7,
2012, at Providence St. Peter
Hospital in Olympia.
She was bern in Vivian,
La., on June 2, 1928. She
grew up during the Great De-
pression and was the young-
est of five children. Her par-
ents were poor and divorced
when she
u was young.

Norma found a job
Jean Oleson and worked
her way
through
high school during World War
II.
She met future husband
Ray Oleson there in 1945
while he was stationed in the
Navy. They were married
in 1947, and she worked for
Western Union while he went
to school at the University of
Minnesota to become an ac-
countant.
They moved to Rockford,
111., after Ray graduated and
lived there for 18 years. Dur-
ing that time, she raised her
son, Brian, and was active in
the areas Lutheran church.
She volunteered as choir
school director, Sunday school
director and helped the visita-
tion committee and provided
office support.
She was also a Cub Scout
den mother for five years, and
was active in the local Boy
Scout troop. She served on the
school's PTA beard.
The family later moved to
Mt. Morris, I]1. She remained
active in the church, served
as a Girl Scout leader and
worked as the director of the
American Field Service at
the area high school for four
years.
Her son, Brian, graduated
from high school in Mt. Morris
and went to college and dental
school at the University of Il-
linois.
Norma and Ray retired
shortly thereafter and moved
back to Vivian, La., in 1982.
They lived there for many
years in their lake house, not
far from where she had lived
as a young girl.
They later moved to Hood-
sport to be closer to family
when their health started to
decline. They lived in Holiday
Beach.
She was a resident of Alpine
Way Apartments in Shelton
for four years and was a Hood-
sport resident prior to that.
She is survived by son Dr.
Brian Ray Oleson of Hood-
sport; daughter-in-law Alma
Jane Oleson; grandsons Jens
Oliver Oleson and Karl Ray
Oleson; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by husband Ray Oleson and
four brothers and sisters.
Patrieia Petersen
Patricia Louise Petersen,
82, died on Nov. 5, 2012.
She was bern Dec. 20,
1929, to Clive and Vera Troy
in Shelton.
She was a homemaker,
mother and wife. She gradu-
ated from Irene S. Reed High
School.
Patricia is survived by sons
Bruce Shulter, Paul Shulter
and Mike Petersen, as well as
numerous family members,
aunts, uncles nieces, nephews,
cousins, grandchildren and a
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death
by husband Lawrence (Bud)
Petersen; daughter Pauline
Shulter; and sisters Helen
Troy and Margie Troy.
