The story outline claims that
"when you're young and a
bachelor and you move into
your own apartment for the first
time, even if it's a cold water
flat - then you know what
exhilaration really is!" And, if a
pretty actress moves into the
apartment next to yours, you're
off to an even better start. •
Don Baker, played by Harvey
Farrimond, has it better still.

The actress, portrayed by Maria
Warren, proposes true friendship
and the removal of a connecting
door between them.
All is not roses for Don,
however. While learning whether
or not he has the talent to
become a songwriter and to
"go-it-alone," he is also trying to
unshackle himself from the
tether of an over-protective
mother acted by Darlene Castle.
Complications arise when
Ralph Austin, in the person of
Jan Pace, comes back into the
young actress' life and Don
finds things a little tougher than
he first imagined, especially
when his meddlesome mother
muddles-up his social life.
"A charming play...
humorous, winning and quietly
moving.., a fine comic sense,"
was the verdict of the New York
Post, which added: "But its most
striking quality is its capacity for
being warm and touching."
