"What do you want for
Christmas?"
"Oil!" I replied promptly, "I
want one of those garage doors
fllat opens all by itself!"
"If there's one thing you
r.-ally don't need it's a remote
control garage door."
"You didn't ask me what I
needed. You asked me what I
wallled."
",But it's ridiculous!"
'l don't see why. Other
J,eople have magic garage doors."
"Other people have garages.
You don't."
"To me this is immaterial.
You are missing the point. What
1 want is the thrill of seeing this
great big garage door slowly
rising out of my way as I
approach."
"You've been brainwashed
by T.V. You're worse than a
child."
'Tm only human. I do not
have the inner integrity of the
animal who remains unaffected
by non-essentials."
"You can say that again.
Last Christmas you had to have
an electronic organ, and you still
can't play the thing."
"That's because I loathe
organ music. Always have."
"I'm surprised you aren't
asking for a Burpsy-Wurpsy Doll
or a Stetchy-Wetchy Wretch."
"As a matter of fact, I would
sort of like to have one of those
inflatable life-size monsters."
"Why, for heaven's sakeg"
"I'd sit him in the best chair,
cook meals for him, fetch him
drinks and wipe his chin when
he slobbers. I miss my old
boyfriend."
"Remember the year you so
desperately longed for a chain
saw and then ruined it right
away?"
"I remember. But nobody
told me the saw,wutt't intended
for the cutting of chains. There
ought to be a law against the use
of misleading names in
advertising."
"Would it disillusion you to
learn that microwave ovens
aren't really meant for the
baking of microwaves or that a
vacuum cleaner will operate in
areas other than perfect
vacuums?"
"You're talking nonsense.
You know very well that I have
a vacuum cleaner and I certainly
don't own a perfect vacuum."
