Highest virtue
The highest virtue is always
against the law.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Andrew Nisbet, a Sequim
Republican elected in the last
general election, took the oath
of office Monday.
Nisbet fills the position of
Don Olson, Port Townsend
Democrat, who did not seek
reelection.
State Supreme Court Justice
Hugh Rosellini administered the
oath of office to NisbeL
Taking office early gives
Nisbet seniority over other
incoming legislators who will be
serving their first term.
CB radio
caution
is given
The Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) has warned
citizen band (CB) radio operators
that improper placement of
transmitters in their cars may
result in gasoline explosions.
Especially hazardous are
transmitters installed in the
trunk or with bumper mounted
whip antennas because of their
proximity to the vehicle's gas
tank and filler pipe.
The agency also warned that
CB operators should not transmit
when cars are being filled with
gas. Sparks from the radio
equipment could ignite gasoline
fumes.
