The Shelton bowling team dominated all
aspects of its match last week.
The Lady Highclimbers shut out Foss 7-0

"Foss was not one of the high-average Foss ............... 0
teams, so it was a relatively easy win," head
coach Curt Snyder said. TODAY:
With that in mind, Snyder decided to use Shelton vs.
the match as a practice for the possibility North
of Shelton making it to the 3A WIAA State Thurston at
Bowling Championship the first weekend of
February.
"We bowled at Narrows Plaza, which is
where state is held, so I was coaching the girls
to bowl differently fbr those particular lane
conditions," Snyder said. "I thought it was a
really good practice for a hopefully upcoming
state tournament."
Senior Danielle Ewart led the team with
a two-game total of 355. Senior Lindsey Cox
followed with 294, while senior Brittany
Smith mustered 257 and junior Caitlyn Borys
bowled 249.
"Danielle was my top bowler," Snyder said.
"She bowled better than her scores reflected
because her errors were in the 10th frame,
which is the most important frame."
Senior Holly Hayman bowled game one
with a score of 104 while senior Lilian Zacar-
,as -- who normally bowls
on the junior varsity team
-- bowled game two with
a score of 129, while Hay-
man sat out the game.
"I want to get as much
exposure to the varsity
team for Lilian," Snyder
said. "So the lowest bowler
from the first game sat out
for the second game."
The victory came two
days after Shelton bowled
a practice match against
Black Hills.
Westside Lanes Snyder said Black Hills
in Olympia, uses a different scoring
3 p.m. system than the 3A Nar-
rows League uses. In this
different system, the bowlers face off against
each other and as teams. For example, the
leadoff bowler's score is compared to the op-
posing team's leadoff bowler. With this sys-
tem, Shelton won 14-4.
"Their system is so much more fun," Sny-
der said.
Shelton (9-2) is set to bowl its rematch
against North Thurston at 3 p.m. today at
Westside Lanes in Olympia.
"North Thurston is going to be a match,"
Snyder said. "The top bowler in the league
right now is a sophomore at North Thursten.
It's going to be a real competition between her
and Danielle for the top spot in the league."
