Kenneth Alan Graft
Kenneth Alan Graft, PhD,
54, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, at
home of natural causes. He
was a resident of the Skokom-
ish Nation for 12 years.
He was bern on Aug. 27,
1957 in Las Animas, Colo., to
Allen and Lou Graft.
He married Bonnie Graft
on February 29, 2000 at
Skokomish Nation.
He taught at Georgetown
University, Texas A&M and
Olympic College and taught
at Jemez Pueblo High School,
N.M. He was an author and
artist.
He is survived by wife Bon-
nie Graft and grandnephew
James, who the family shared
they lovingly called son', three
children from two previous
marriages daughters Janine
and Olivia; son Phillip; three
sisters; and his parents; one
niece and two nephews.

Theodore Walton Barnes
Theodore '"red" Walton
Barnes, 64, died Friday, Dec.
16, at Capital Medical Center
in Olympia. He was a resident
of Olympia and a 30-year,
previous Shelton resident.
He was bern April 26, 1947
in Longview to Jesse and Flor-
ette (Matras) Barnes.
He attended Shelton High
School.

He had a long career a~

He is survived by his wife

grandchildren Devin, Paymn.
Sierra, Lane and Landin;
sister Charlotte Ristine (Bob);
sister-in-law Maryann Barnes
Geist; numerous nieces and
nephews and his pets Osa,
JayLo and Josie.
His wife Rosalinde Barnes,
sister Florette Barnes and
brothers Dale and Ronald
Barnes, preceded him in death.

Jesse Owen
Cunningham
Jesse Owen Cunningham,
53, died Saturday, Dec. 10, of
a heart attack in Shelton. He
was a resident of Shelton.
He was born Feb. 17, 1958,
to Jack Cunningham and Car-
ol (Kratcha) Cunningham.
He was married twice, beth
ending in divorce. He worked in
insulation and shellfish. He en-
joyed sports, music and fishing.
He is survived by his moth-
er Carol Jordan of Goldendale;
father Jack Cunningham of
East Peoria, Ill.; sisters Rox-
anne Mikelthun of Shelton
and Raney Nutt of Shelton;
daughter Holly Cunningham
of Pekin, Ill. and stepmother
Leota Cunningham of East
Peoria, Ill.
was a resident of Goldendale
for five years. He had previ-
ously lived in Shelton.
He was bern April 27, 1947,
to William and Rosemary
(Moews) Jordan in Peldn, Ill.
He graduated from Pekin
High School. He later went
to college in Bremerton and
earned an associate's degree
in art and spent the rest of his
career as an old west artist.
He
served in
.~!~ the U.S.
**~ .... : Navy from
1966 to
1972 and
was active
in the Viet-
nam War.
He
married
Daniel Caroline
Jordan Kratcha
in Colton,
Calif.
He worked at Simpson
Timber Company.
His family shared that he
would travel all over the west
to attend western art shows
and sell his work. He enjoyed
history, playing guitar, Black
Powder Rendezvous and golf.
He is survived by his wife
Carol of Goldendale; children
Roxy Miklethun, Jesse Cun-
ningham and Raney Nutt all
of Shelton; siblings William
David Jordan of Wauconda,
John Jordan of Parker, Ariz.,
Michael Jordan of Molalla,
Ore. and half-brother William
Dale Jordan. Jr. of Blooming-
ton, Ill.; grandchildren Tim
Gallagher of Shelton, Holly
Cunningham of Peoria, Ill.,
Sarah Nutt of Shelton and
Rebecca Nutt of Shelton and
four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents and half-broth-
er Ronald Jordan.
A memorial service is being
planned for a later date.

John Michael Luhm
John Michael Luhm, 61,
died Dec. 12, at the Washing-
ton State Veterans Home in
Retsil.
He was bern on Aug. 14,
1950. to John L. Luhm and
Frances (Buchanan) Luhm in
Shelton. He was a graduate of
Shelton High School and went
on to enlist in the U.S. Navy
from 1970 to 1972 serving in
the Vietnam War.
He was employed as an
electrician,
He is survived by his son
John Lewis Luhm (Jennifer)
of Chicago, sister Cathy Mun-
son of University Place and
two grandchildren.
His parents preceded him
in death.

• Dec. 27, at Tahoma National

Ronnie James Rivera
Ronnie James Rivera, 24,
died Sunday, Dec. 11, at home
in Shelton: He was a lifelong
resident.
He was bern Nov. 4, 1987,
in Olympia to Harry J. Johns
Jr. and Veronica Rivera.
He was preceded in death He attended Shelton High
by his stepfather DanJordan: SChool.
A memorial at a later date~
will be held in Goldendale
along with his stepfather Dan
Jordan.
Daniel Lee Jordan
Daniel Lee Jordan, 64, died
on Nov. 30, in Goldendale. He
He married Sonia Silva on
Nov. 12, 2008, atthe Skoko-
mish Shaker Church. He was
a self-employed fisherman for
the last 15 years.
Rivera was a member of
the Squaxin Tribe. His hob-
bies included basketball,
fishing, and hunting, clam
digging and listening to mu-
sic. His family shared that
he was especially fond of the
loud bass sound (bumping)
and he enjoyed his nephews,
the Shaker Church and canoe
. trips.
He is

Harold Leon Schnitzer
Harold Leon Schnitzer, 86
died Dec. 12, while camping.
He was born Oct. 5, 1925,
in Kansas City, Mo., to Dea L.
and Stella (Petty ~ Schnitzer.
The family was part of the
westward migration brought
on by the depression, eventu-
ally settling in Shelton in the
early 1930s.
He at-

In early
1944, he
joined the
U.S. Navy
and was
stationed
in Hawaii
Harold as a fire-
man on the
Sehnitzer airfields.
In January
1946 he married Mildred J.
Woodworth. They were mar-
ried 55 years.
He worked for Simpson
Timber Company, first at
Camp Grisdale, then at Mill
three as an edgerman. He left
Simpson afar 18 years to run
his own self-loading log truck
business, retiring in 1988.
His family shared that one
of his passmns was racing.
He was one of the first mo-
torcycle racers and he raced
scrambles and hill climbs
before there were tracks to
race on, eventually moving to
flat track T1~ events where he
earned a national number.
During the late 50s he
raced stockcars at local tracks
such as Elma and Silverdale,
but went back to his favorite
sport -- motorcycle racing.
He was an all-around
sportsman and liked fishing
and hunting. His family said
there were always grouse,
canned salmon, venison and
elk on the table.
His family said he was a
master mechanic that kept
three logging trucks on the
road. He also scuba dived and
could navigate his beats along
the coast and straits to his fa-
vorite fishing spot.
He is survived by children
Cheryl Stewart (Jim), Curt
Schnitzer, Del Schnitzer (Teri)
and Dana Schnitzer all of Shel-
ton; nephew Tim Schnitzer;
niece Diane Applegate; seven
grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents Dea and Stella
Schnitzer, brother Raymond
Schnitzer and his wife Millie.
A graveside service and a
gathering of friends and fam-
ily will be held in the spring.
Marion E. Tilton
Marion E. Tilton, 76, died
Saturday, Dec. 17, at his home
in Hoodsport where he had
been a resident for seven years.
He was born June 14, 1935
in Toppenish to J. Howard
and Bertha A. (Caton) Tilton.
He attended Zillah High
School in Zillah.
He served in the Air force
from 1952 to 1956 and was
A/lst Class rank on discharge.
He married Joy Gregory in
Clinton, Iowa on September 8,
1956. They were married for
55 years.
He was involved in aviation
and his family shared that it
was said that the only thing
he couldn't fly was the space
shuttle. He
~was a pilot
and worked
for the FAA
for 30 years
in Se-
attle, Boise,
Idaho,
Honolulu,
Hawaii, Al-
Marion buquerque,
Tilton N.M. and
Spokane,
where he
retired on Oct. 1, 2011.
Tilton was interested in
flying, photography, play-
ing the steel guitar; twelve
string guitar, woodworking,
cabinet making and restoring
cars. He was a member of
the American Legion, VFW,
and the Nazarene Church in
Boise, Idaho and the Baptist
Church in Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife
Joy Tilton of Hoodsport;
daughters Julene Delo (Jerry)
of Auburn, Lori Triton of Or-
egon, Chrisl~e Nydegger
(Nick) oi~Boise, Idaho and
Jeanene Michelsen (Kelly) of
Wenatehee; brother Edward
Tilton of Camano Island; 14
grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, brother El-
wood Tilton and granddaugh-
ter Meghan Delo.
A memorial service is being
planned for June 2012.

Gerald Dean Wilson
Gerald Dean Wilson, 83,
died Tuesday, Dec. 13, at
Capital Medical Center in
Olympia. He was a resident of
Shelton for 41 years.
He was born on Nov. 12,
1928, in Flasher, N.D., to
Charles and Ethel (Bunce)
Wilson.
He married Geraldine Ann
Maphis in Yakima on March
12, 1949.
He was a foreman for the

before he

a coffee
shop for
his wife in
Selah. This
started
their ca-
reers in the

of Commerce in Selah, was
featured as an Outstanding
Young Man of America in 1965
and was awarded the Distin-
guished Service Award from
the Selah Junior Chamber of
Commerce for outstanding
community service through
loyal, faithful and unselfish
efforts resulting in a lasting
contribution to community and
nation.
He is survived by his wife
Geraldine Wilson; sons Gary
Wilson (Linda), Randy
Wilson (Dee), Brad Wilson
(Co~m) and Darrel Wilson
(Marlis); 10 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild and
numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.

Sharon L. Rogers
Born in Glendale, CA on
March8, 1946. Shnron was
raised in Redmond, WA. She
enjoyed showing her cocker
spaniel champions, swimming
competitively in high school and
was a member of the US Women's
Army Corps, winning the title of
Miss Armed Forces I965. Sharon
came to Shelton in 1979 and was
, employed by the Mason-Thurston
Retired Senior Volunteer Program
where she was the Mason County
:Coordinator before she retired.
She died peacefully in Anacortes
with her family at her side on i
December 15,2011.
Sharon is survived by her
children: Cln'is Rogers Of
Issaquah, Laura Simon of
Anacortes and six grandchildren.

ing in his yard and enjoyed his
tractor. He also raised sheep,
