The substation was erected by
PUD No. 1 personnel and was
built at a cost of $58,700. The
transmission line was cleared by
C. H. Danard Co., Olympia and was
constructed by POTELCO, Inc.,
Tacoma at a cost of $71,100 All
facilities were designed by the
Howard Zenier and Associates,
Consulting Engineers, Vancouver.
In the design and construction
of the new substation, every
effort was made to develop a
structure that would be low in
profile and as unobstructive as
possible. After completion of
landscaping next year, the station
should be a welcome addition to
the neighborhood, Hein
commented.

The extendedoutlook for
Restaurant
"Take a free coffee break and
help reduce holiday traffic
accidents" is the message drivers
will be getting from Mable's
Capital Restaurant.
Durning the peak traffic hours
of the Christmas and New Year's
holidays, the Capital Restaurant
will serve free coffee to
road-weary drivers. It is part of
the National Coffee Stop
Program, designed to reduce
highway fatalities by getting
motorists off the road for
frequent rest breaks.
"Safety experts strongly
recommend rest breaks as basic to
safe driving," explained Mable
Long, owner of the restaurant.
"But people, rushing to holiday
activities, tend to put off, or
ignore, rest breaks," she
PUD No. 1 electric system were
completed recently or are to be
completed in the next few weeks.
These include increasing the load
capacity of the present Hoodsport
and Union substations, rebuilding
and increasing the capacity of the
distribution line between
Hoodsport and Warfield's Resort
and adding new equipment near_
Lilliwaup and Triton Cove to
improve quality of service between
those areas.

"Our restaurant is serving free
coffee as an incentive to get
drivers off the highway for a
safety stop...it appeals to
them, since most people think of
a cup of coffee as a reward," Mrs.
Long said.
U. S. Secretary of

thousands of restaurants are

The Capital Restaurant will
