Magnuson of Washington State (where the famed Columbia River Salmon come from) introduced a bill to change the name of the bacteria that causes food poisoning from Salmonella to Sanella. No doubt, tbe bill was proposed in response to pleas from those in the salmon industry who fear that the public thinks the bacteria were named, after the fish. Actually the bacteria were named after a U. S. Pathologist, Daniel Elmer Salmon, who discovered that dead virus induces immunity against living virus.
