Loran Armagost will be
installed as worshipful master of
Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 11, F and
AM at the 1 12th annual
installation of officers for the
lodge at 8 p.m. December.
The ceremonies will be held in
the Masonic Temple at Third and
Cota.
Other officers to be installed
are Bartlett Parks, senior warden;
Harold M. Brown, junior warden;
Randall Wiktorek, secretary; Fred
Ferris, treasurer; Robert E. Baker,
senior deacon; Robert A. Shaw,
junior deacon; Perry Rose, senior
steward; Windell Lawson, junior
stewar d; John Armagost, marshal;
Donn Shankland, chaplain; and
Glenn Story, tyler.
The installation ceremony is
open to the public.

During this year the first
census of the territory was taken
by Anderson, which showed a
population of 3,900, of which
1,804 were legal voters, in the
entire territory.
Stevens, the first governor,
arrived at what is now Olympia
on November 25, 1853 and, after
establishing his office, called the
first legislative election to meet
on January 30, 1854.
Prior to this year the Oregon
Territorial Legislature had created
the counties of Pierce, King,
Island and Jefferson out of
Thurston County, which
originally embraced all territory
north of the Cowlitz divide and
west of the Cascades.

Nathaniel Holman
Nathaniel B. Holman died
Tuesday in Mason General
Hospital at the age of 76 years.
He was born in Olympia on
August 3, 1899.
A resident of this area most of
his life, Mr. Holman had been
employed as a boom man for
Sir pson Timber Company. He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World
War I.
He is survived by his wife,
Grace M. Holman of Shelton; a
son, Nat E. Holman of Bangor,
Maine; two daughters, Mrs. Joe
(Maxine) Parson and Mrs. Ray
(Helen) Rice, both of Shelton; 13
grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; a brother,
Gene Holman of Shelton; and a
sister, Mrs. Dave (Ruth) Adams,
also of Shelton.
The Reverend Kurt
Hardenbrook will officiate at a
service, to be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday in Batstone Funeral
Home. The services will conclude
in the funeral home with burial to
take place in Shelton Memorial
Park on Monday.
