Greeting drawn by Dawn Wood 4th grade, Mt. View Publication of "A Forester's Log: Fifty Years in the Pacific Northwest," an oral history interview with George L. Drake, has been announced by the Forest History Society, headquartered in Santa Cruz, California. Drake retired as vice president of the Simpson Logging Company in 1954. The volume indudes a short interview with the late Charles S. Cowan, onetime executive secretary of the Washington Forest Fire Association. The interviews were conducted by Elwood R. Maunder, executive director and oral historian with the Forest History Society. George Drake began his forestry career in 1912 with the U.S. Forest Service, cruising timber near Klamath Lake in Timbers Restaurant southern Oregon.
