Youth still showing, the Climb- N. Tilson (O) 27.36, Nick McCaus-
er chlorine boys nonetheless made
it relatively close last week as they
saw in the holidays with a 73-109
nonleague soiree with the Bears of
Olympia.
Shelton's inexperience was off-
set by no fewer than nine person-
ai records - one each by district
veterans Tim Russell and Cole
Phelan, another by veteran junior
Nick McCausland, a pair apiece by
newcomers Richard Price and Jon
Ramsey and one each by the two
first-year Climbers with extensive
swim-club experience, Cass Hil-
dreth and Max Crain.
Junior Russell PROd his way to
victory in the individual medley
and added first-place points in the
100 free as well, while sophomore
Phelan was second by way of a
PR in the 200 free and earned the
same runner-up points in the 500,
where he wound up within just a
few seconds of his personal record
despite enduring a turnout regi-
men of late that's designed to keep
him in a state of near exhaustion
- the better to maximize his physi-
cal and emotional peak come dis-
trict.
