STAFF REPORT
In Mason County, often
called Christmastown USA,
Christmas tree farms and
stands are everywhere you
look during the holiday sea-
son.
But what do you do with
your tree when the celebra-
tion is over?
Two Mason County fa-
cilities will accept Christmas
trees for free during January.
County residents can drop
offtheir old trees at the Shel-
ton Transfer Station, 501 W.
Eells Hill Road, and the Bel-
fair Drop Off Facility, 2001
N.E. Sand Hill Road.
The Shelton transfer sta-
tion is open from 8 a.m. to 4
p.m. Tuesday through Satur-
day
The Belfair solid-waste
drop-off facility is open from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday
through Saturday.
No free Christmas tree
drop-off will be available at
the county's Hoodsport or
Union solid-waste drop-off
facilities.
Trees being dropped off
for free recycling at those fa-
cilities will need to be free of
tinsel, decorations and flock-
ing. Wreaths and garland,
will not be accepted for free
recycling because these items
cannot be recycled because of
the wire they contain.
Questions regarding the:
free Christmas tree recycling
drop-off should be directed to
the following phone numbers:
Shelton Solid Waste Transfer
Facility at 427-5271 and Bel-
fair Solid Waste Drop off Fa-
cility at 275-6462.
