Barton, son of Bonnie L. Sheedy of Shelton, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. During the eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the navy's 85 basic occupational fields. Included in his studies were seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene. He joined the navy in March, 1978. Limited availability of some models. Prepared childbirth classes offered Prepared childbirth classes will be offered in Shclton beginning in January. Offered through the Olympic College Extension Center, the classes will emphasize the likes of Lamaze breathing techniques, relaxation methodology, conditioning exercises, characteristics of labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn characteristics, nutrition, breast-feeding and parenting, as well as various problems typical of the last months of pregnancy. Both partners (woman and coach) are encouraged to attend, but a prerequisite is that the woman be in at least her seventh month of pregnancy - or having a due date no later than April 15. Registration for the first session begins January 2. Classes begin January 11, and college credit is available. Each class will consist of seven to ten couples, and instruction will be by trained childbirth educators. If there is a demand, another session of classes will be offered Healthmobile  schedule set The Mason County Healthmobile will be in Belfair January 17, Hoodsport, January 23 and Grapeview, January 24 it was announced this week.
