Here's what some experts say about the value of a large mortgage. The lower your down payment is, the easier it will be to sell your home in the future. The reasoning is that there will be a greater number of prospe'cts who have a smaller amount of cash available to take over a large mortgage than for a huge down payment or even being forced to take out a new loan at a possibly higher interest rate. The higher interest charge is offset somewhat by a higher tax deduction. The money that would have been put into a larger down payment can be used for other income-pro- ducing investments. Finally, it's cheaper to borrow mortgage money than any other kind. And you certainly may have to borrow for autos and college tuition if you are an average American.
