Starts Dec. 30th Through Jan. 31st rnamen ar Betty Moran, homemaker, horsewoman, gardener, cook, and seamstress is also a handicrafter. A specially equipped room in her home is reserved for sewing and for the creating of her hand made novelites. Scraps of materials are carefully saved to be utilized in all sorts of projects throughout the year. Dolls and aprons, pot holders and dusting mitts, tote bags, wall decorations, felt tree ornaments rich with glitter and angels demure and dainty are among her current accomplishments. Now she enjoys the many Christmas cards received, and displays them fondly during the holidays. Afterward she uses them in many ways. "They a.re just too pretty to be thrown away," she says. Mrs. Moran has made baskets of them, and scrapbooks; she has cut them with pinking shears into attractive tags for gift packages; and now she has found yet another fascinating manner in which to preserve them. She makes decorative balls, which may be used as mobiles, centerpieces, tree ornaments, or package tie-ons, according to size. First she cuts 20 circles from cards, making certain that each round composes a complete picture, and that all are compatible in color and design. The circles must be uniform in size, the diameter of them determining the dimensions of the finished article. Next one needs a pattern of an equilateral triangle, cut from sturdy cardboard and so sized that the points touch the edges of the circle. Place the cardboard on each circle in turn, folding the circle over the sides of the triangle to create a definite shaping. The upturned edges will be stapled BETTY MORAN and her little dog, Pete, display a mobile made from Christmas cards. together to form a ball, using a very small hand stapler. The top of the ball requires five circles, so stapled that the tops come together in a point. The lower edge should consist of flat sides forming a continuous rim. Perfume doesn't seem to "last" on my skin. Is there anything I can do about it? A. Dry skin does not seem to hold a scent as long as does oily skin. If this is your )roblem, try using a bath oil, toilet water and perfume all in the same scent. The fragrance will last longer, especially if you refresh it several times during the day by applying perfume from a perfume )urser. It may be, however, that you have simply become so accustomed to one fragrance that you no longer notice it on /ourself, SCENT FOR A TEENAGER Q. What type of fragrance would you recommend for a teenager? A. I n general, teenagers should stick to "light" fragrances. For daytime wear, a floral scent is probably most appropriate; for evening wear, she might like a modern blend. The personality of the particular girl should also be taken into consideration in choosing a fragrance.
