Victor H. Butts
Victor H. Butts Celebrates
Birthday At Open House
Ninety-year-old Victor H.
Butts of Oyster Bay was feted at a
surprise Open House held on
December 5 in the home of his
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Peterson, Olympia.
Victor Butts was born near
Dial, Georgia in 1880. As a 20
year old he came west and lived in
Wyoming and California before
settling in Eastern Washington
where he ran a wheat farm for
several years.
Fie came to Mason County in
1913, and lived at the head of
Oyster Bay for two years, after
which he moved to the Olympia
area. He there owned and
operated a dairy farm for
approximately 20 years, following
which he was in the oyster
business until his retirement.
Shelton relatives and friends
attending his birthday observance
were Mr, and Mrs.dames Waldrip,
Mrs. Florence Taylor, Mrs. Mac
Roberts, Mrs. Emma McDonald,
Mrs. Norma Richards, and Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Minegishi. Mr and
Mrs. Leslie Allen of Belfair were
present as well as guests from
Hoquiam, Port Orchard and
Olympia.
Sgt. Boiling
Has Arrived
In Viet Nam
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt.
Kenneth M. Boiling, son of Mr. and
Mrs. R. M. Boiling, Shelton, has
arrived for duty at Pleiku AB,
Vietnam.
Sgt. Boiling, a telephone
equipment repairman with a unit
of the Air Force Communications
Service, previously served at
Brooks AFB, Tex.
"[he sergeant is a 1965
graduate of Shelton High School.
His wife, Sharon, is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Syl Eastman,
Bellingham.

OVTI Offers
New Course
In Welding
Olympia Vocational Technical
Institute is offering a new welding
course which will provide a basic
introduction to arc and acetylene
welding.
The course will be taught by
Jimmy Kirby at OVTI's new
facility on its 55 acre campus on
the Mottman Road, two miles
southwest of Olympia.
The course will start Jan. 9,
from 8 a.m. to noon and will run
consecutively for 15 weeks.
