Jim and Ella McAuliffe had
their youngest son, Dan home for
Christmas. Unfortunately it
wasn't quite the happy occasion
all three had looked forward to tt
being.He arrived home the Sunday
prior to the Holiday. But rather
than using the Christmas present
his folks had sent him, a plane
ticket he drove home himself, as
about a week before he broke his
arm in two places, the wrist and
elbow. The accident happened by
playing football with his two
roommates at Balboa Park across
from their apartment. Due to the
accident he was layed off work,
so will be home while he's on the
mend, or at least until some type
of work turns up that he can

new address on Spencer Lake to
help them celebrate New Year's
Eve this Thursday evening.
The Christmas spirit at The
Maples was dampened when
Charles Allison was taken to
Mason General Hospital with a
heart ailment. He was put in the
intensive care cardiac unit until it
was determined a pacemaker
implant should be made.This was
the second one installed in Mason
General.
In spite of this unfortunate
happening, The Allison sons being
home, carried out the traditional
Christmas ceremonies. Prof. David
Allison and wife and children,
Peter and Sara trimmed the tree,
and Uncle Charlie Allison home
from San Francisco played
Christmas Carols and read to all,
"The Night Before Christmas."
Early in the week before
Christmas visitors at the Maples
were, LTC and Mrs. Peter Jefferds
USN, and children Roul, Seth, Ian
and Leah. The Jefferds enrout
from Colorado Springs to a new
post in Korea. LTC Jefferds and
family were frequent visitors at
The Maples a few years ago when
stationed at McChord Field. In fact
they became so enamored of
Harstine, they plan to purchase
land here for future summer use.
The day after Christmas an
open house was held in The Hi
Burch home on Wilson Point to
welcome Brian Burch and bride
Nan. The young Burches are on
their way to their new home in
Hong Kong.
TO SAY that truth is better

that make men free in the
common light of day.
