John Lester, a 1981 Shelton High
School graduate who worked for21
years in management for McDon-
ald’s, this week was promoted to
publisher of the Shelton-Mason
Journal.
Lester has worked for the
for four years, first as an adver-
tising manager and then as general
manager.
Lester’s leadership skills are
among the strengths he brings to the
position, said Tom Mullen, owner
of the Journal. Another plus is “his
ability to generate loyalty, which I
believe comes from his loyalty to the
people who he works with, the staff
at the paper, the readers and the
advertisers,” he said. m“ _ _m_ mm 7, “MW, _

Lawmakers representing the 35th
Legislative District are heading into
the 2021 legislative session saying
they’re prepared to pursue economic
relief for small businesses, working
families and those most affected by
the economic fallout of the pandemic.
“We need to minimize What we’re
doing this session to just focus on
the most important topics that are
before us and a lot of that’s obvi-
ously probably related,” Rep. Drew
MacEwen, R—Union, said in a phone '
interview. “We need to tackle things
from the health standpoint and we
also need to provide economic relief.”
MacEwen introduced a package of
economic bills that he said he’ hopes
will help small businesses weather
the pandemic.
