Maximum price set on North Mason fire headquarters

The North Mason Regional Fire
Authority Board of Fire Commissioners
approved a guaranteed maximum price
(GMP) of $9.1 million for the new head-
quarters fire station construction proj-
ect during a special meeting on Zoom
Dec. 23.
“This GMP has been fought tooth
and nail to make sure that everything
that we want in this project is there,”

Fire Chief Beau Bakken said during the
meeting. “We should have been signing
this back on the 16th of November, and
that did not happen because we were
carving a lot out of the project and then,
it was still being shown over budget.”
Phase one of the project, or project
validation and 60% of design comple-
tion, is finished. That accounts for
$570,566 of the GMP.

cussions, the project is slated to be
completed on time with substantial

“The good news is the contractor rec-
ognizes there was a goal or a hope to
have this facility complete by the end of
next year, they’ve actually gone through
and changed their schedule, some of
their sequencing (and) tightened that
up a little bit to continue to allow that,”

TRICO—Architects West, the project’s
design—build team.
The full design of the project is slated
to be complete by Jan. 29 and once per-
mitting is COmplete, construction is
scheduled to take 10 months.
According to the GMP, the remain-
ing design, permitting and construction
will cost $6.6 million.
The new headquarters will be
about 18,700 square feet and include
